Story
The failed pianist Gene Hansen arrives at a special boarding school for children with intellectual disabilities to take the place of a music teacher. She hopes that working with dysfunctional children will allow her to find the meaning of life. Soon she becomes attached to one of the students - 12-year-old Ruben Widdycombe, who is developed enough to acutely feel loneliness after his parents left him here. In the face of Gene, the boy finds a person who is ready to take care of him and protect him. However, Dr. Clark, a strict institution leader, does not approve of such a close relationship between teacher and student; in his opinion, excessive care will only hurt the development of Ruben as an independent person ...
