Content
Early years
Hassan Whiteside began playing basketball at a high school in Gastonia , North Carolina . Then he lived with his mother and six siblings. In his first year at high school, he moved with his father to Newark , New Jersey . There he played in East Side High School and scored an average of 18 points, 10 rebounds, 5.5 block shots per game in the 2006/2007 season. Then, in the 2007/2008 season, he returned to North Carolina.
Professional career
Sacramento Kings, D-League and others
On June 24, 2010, Whiteside was drafted under a common 33rd number by the Sacramento Kings team. On July 19, he signed a contract with the Kings for four years totaling $ 3.8 million, the first two years were guaranteed, for which he received $ 1.76 million.
November 29, 2010 Whiteside was sent to the Rino Bighorns Farm Club from the D-League . On January 9, 2011, he was recalled back to the Sacramento Kings.
On March 5, 2011, Whiteside underwent surgery to restore a partially torn tendon in his left knee, due to which he almost completely missed the season. He only once appeared on the floor in matches for the Sacramento Kings in his first year in the NBA.
In January 2012, he again went to the Rino Bighorns. On February 4 he returned to Sacramento.
July 16, 2012 was expelled from the Sacramento Kings.
September 25, 2014 signed a non-guaranteed contract with Memphis Grizzlies . In pre-season games, I went to the site 5 times, recording in my asset an average of 3.4 points and 3 rebounds. He never played in the NBA for Memphis and was expelled on October 22, 2014.
Miami Heat (2014 -present )
Season 2014/2015
On November 24, 2014, Whiteside signed a contract with the Miami Heat [1] . On December 13, he was sent to the D-League for the Sioux Falls Skyfors team [2] , but he was recalled two days later after spending one game in which he managed to complete a double-double of 21 points and 12 in 26 minutes rebounds [3] . On January 4, 2015, he made his first double-double in the NBA (11 points, 10 rebounds) in a winning match with the Brooklyn Nets [4] .
On January 11, 2015, he scored a record 23 points for himself, and also made 16 rebounds, 2 interceptions and 2 block shots in the match against Los Angeles Clippers [5] . On January 25, 2015, he made his first triple double , gaining 14 points, 13 rebounds, 12 block shots in a won match against the Chicago Bulls [6] . At the same time, 12 block shots became the new Miami Heat record [7] . Whiteside has also become just the 4th player in the last 25 years, who managed to collect a collection of at least 12 points, 12 rebounds and 12 block shots per game, and who managed to make 12 block shots after Manute Ball 2 after leaving benches and having spent less than 25 minutes on the site (Bol made 13 blocks in 23 minutes) [8] . On February 4, he updated his performance record by scoring 24 points, scoring 12 of 13 shots from the game, and adding 20 rebounds to them, but that did not save the team from defeat against the Minnesota Timberwolves club. Whiteside became the seventh player in the history of “Miami Heat”, which obeyed the line of 20 points and 20 rebounds per match [9] .
On March 2, Whiteside entered into a fight with Alexei Len of the Phoenix Suns after Hassan had injected dunk through Len, who waved off Whiteside and hit him in the face, both players were removed from the court. The next day, both of them were fined by the league for 20 thousand dollars Sloth for provoking a fight and for 15 thousand dollars Whiteside for succumbing to the provocation by the opponent [10] . On March 10, he was barred from participating in one-game games without paying a salary for an incident the day before in a match against the Boston Celtics , when Whiteside pushed center rival Kelly Olinik in the back [11] . In the vote for the prize, the most progressive NBA player of the 2015–2016 season, Hassan Whiteside took 4th place, losing to the winner Jimmy Butler , as well as Damonmond Green and Rudy Gober [12] . In his 1st season in the NBA for the “Miami Heat”, Whiteside had an average double-double for the match (11.8 points and 10 rebounds).
Season 2015/2016
On November 1, 2015, Whiteside again updated his performance record with 25 points in a match against Houston Rockets , his actions helped to win Miami with a difference of 21 points [13] . On November 17, he scored his 2nd triple double in the NBA, gaining 22 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks in a lost match against Minnesota Timberwolves. Hassan Whiteside became the 7th player in the history of the NBA, who managed to make more than one triple double, made up of points, rebounds and block shots [14] . On December 11, he blocked the throws of Indiana Pacers players 2 times, which allowed him to extend the series of games with at least 2 block shots per game from the beginning of the season to 21 matches, only Mark Eaton had more matches than him (24th in the 1988/1989 season) and Shaquille O'Neill (23rd in the 1992/1993 season). However, already in the next game against Memphis Grizzlies, his series was interrupted.
On January 15, 2016, Whiteside recorded his third triple double in his career of 19 points, 17 rebounds and 11 blocked throws in a won match against Denver Nuggets. [15] From January 22 to February 2, Whiteside missed 6 games of the regular season due to a left hip injury. On February 3, he returned to the floor, and on December 5 he made his next (3rd in the season and 4th in his career) triple double of 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 block shots, leaving the bench in the match against Charlotte Hornets ” [16] . With this achievement, he became the 2nd player in the history of the NBA, who submitted at least 2 matches with 10 or more block shots made by the player who left the bench (the record belongs to Manuta Bol , he has 11 such matches) [17] .
