The general elections in Burkina Faso (2015) are the early presidential and parliamentary elections in Burkina Faso , which took place on November 29, 2015 [1] . The reason for the early elections was the resignation of the President of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaore .

Chronology of elections

On October 31, 2014 , after prolonged unrest , the president of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaoré, announced his resignation from the presidency and the holding of elections in the next 90 days [2] [3] . On the same day, the commander of the armed forces of Burkina Faso, General Honore Traore, announced that he was taking on the duties of the president and announced preparations for the new election [4] .

On January 22, 2015, the acting president of Burkina Faso, Michel Kafando, announced that the elections would be held on October 11, 2015 [5] , and that the current members of the government would not participate in these elections:

«If there are no incidents, if the elections are held normally, then we will solemnly transfer power to those who won the elections in November 2015.»

Kaume Longuet

Kaume Longu was born in Burkina Faso and was the country's defense minister in 2000-2004. He took a direct part in the uprising in Burkina Faso [6] . After the resignation of Blaise, Compaore announced his possible participation in the presidential election [7] .
