The total length reaches 11 cm [2] . Sexual dimorphism is observed - the female is larger than the male. The head is wide, large. Eyes with vertical pupils. Eardrum is absent. The male does not have a resonator. The physique is tight. The skin is smooth. The chest is ossified. Paws are short. The membranes between the toes of the hind legs are well developed. The internal calcaneal tubercle on the hind limbs is quite large. During the breeding season, the male appears with tubercles on the palms and forearms.

The color of the back ranges from gray, brown, and yellow to dark brown or green, with small bright spots. Sometimes the color is uniform. The belly is light, with dark spots. The inner calcaneal tuber is black.

He loves dunes, agricultural landscapes, fields, meadows. It occurs at an altitude of up to 1770 meters above sea level. Active at night. It feeds on spiders and ground beetles . Hibernates in summer.

Mating occurs with the help of amplexus. Reproduction occurs from October to May. The female lays eggs in portions, making up peculiar cords. There are up to 7000 eggs in them [2] . Larvae appear after 2 weeks. Metamorphosis lasts 4-6 months.

Life expectancy is 10-15 years.

It lives on the Iberian Peninsula (except the north) in Portugal and Spain, as well as in southeastern and western France [3] .
