Description
The Innoko National Wildlife Refuge was created on December 2, 1980 by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act .
The northern part of the reserve ( Kaiyuh Flats , 3,040 km²) includes the Yukon River and adjacent lands southwest of the city of Galina , the southern (12 540 km²) - Innoko River and adjacent lands. The most convenient way to get is by air through McGrath civil airport.
Because of the wetlands of the reserve, it is a nesting site for thousands of birds. It is also the habitat of baribal , elk , wolf and other mammals.
