Award Description
The medal has the shape of a circle with a diameter of 32 mm. On the obverse - an image of the Croatian trefoil , with two crossed swords superimposed on it. Below is the logo of the Ustashi . In the upper part of the obverse there is a convex semicircle going in capital letters ZA POGLAVNIKA I ZA DOM (For the messenger and the Motherland). In the lower part, to the left and to the right of the emblem, oak leaves are depicted.
Back side: inside the ornament in the central part of the medal - the coat of arms of Croatia with the emblem of the Ustashas above it, as well as the inscriptions PRIZNANJE DOMOVINE (Grateful Fatherland) above them and 1942 - below.
There were two degrees of the medal: iron for moderate wounds and gold (gilded), issued for serious wounds, or bizkim relatives of those killed in battle or died from wounds. [2] [3]
The ribbon is 40 millimeters wide with 6 mm white stripes on the edges, and 1-3 blue stripes in the center (depending on the number of injuries) against the background of transversely alternating red and white stripes.
A miniature gilded oak wreath was attached to the ribbon with more wounds. [four]
