Anatoly Leonidovich Kadomtsev ( February 22, 1920 , Penza - April 26, 1969 , Akhtubinsk ) - Soviet military commander, lieutenant general of aviation (April 13, 1964), Honored Military Pilot of the USSR (08/19/1965), commander of the USSR Air Defense (1966— 1969).

Biography

Born in the city of Penza on February 25, 1920 .
He graduated from the Air Force Academy. Professor N.E. Zhukovsky in 1941 .
During the Great Patriotic War, he participated in hostilities as part of the troops of the South-Western, Stalingrad, Southern and other fronts, mainly in the engineering and technical posts of aviation units and formations. Member of the CPSU since 1942. Having an engineering and flight education, he achieved transfer to an aviation school, which he graduated as an external student.
In 1954 he was appointed commander of the Pacific Air Force Pacific Fleet division .
In 1955 he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for the downing of an American intelligence officer.
From 1956 to 1961 - Deputy Commander of the Air Force Pacific Fleet.
Major General of Aviation (02/18/1958). Lieutenant General of Aviation (04/13/1964).
In 1961 he was appointed deputy commander of the country's air defense aviation.
In August 1965, he was one of the first in the country to be awarded the title of Honored Military Pilot of the USSR .
From June 1966 he was appointed commander of the USSR Air Defense Air Force. He flew on many types of aircraft.
He spent a lot of work on organizing Vietnam's air defense during his war with the United States , as well as in several Arab countries during the fighting in the 1960s.

On April 26, 1969, Anatoly Leonidovich Kadomtsev died while flying on an experimental prototype of a MIG-25P aircraft in the city of Akhtubinsk (Vladimirovka), Astrakhan Region (fire due to separation of a turbine blade) [1] .
He was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery .
