Rachelle Mwanza ( French: Rachel Mwanza ; born 1997 , Mbuji Mayi , Democratic Republic of the Congo ) is a Congolese actress. Mwanza made her screen debut in 2012, turning into a young soldier Komona in the drama " Witch of War ". This role brought the actress fame and several prestigious awards, including the "Silver Bear" for the best female role and the highest film award in Canada " Gini " [1] .

Biography
Rachel Mwanza was born in the city of Mbuji-Mayi and was left by her parents in early childhood. For some time she lived with her grandmother, but after she could no longer support her granddaughter, she appeared in the streets of Kinshasa . Rachelle did not go to school, could not read and write [1] [2] .
The director and producers of the upcoming Canadian drama “ The Witch of War ” upcoming at that time noticed her in a documentary about the life of children in Kinshasa [2] . After that, she was approved for the role of the girl Komona, who was kidnapped by rebels and forced to participate in hostilities. The film was released in 2012. He was warmly received by critics and nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film . In February 2013, Rachel received a visa to attend the 85th Academy Awards and screenings in Canada , France and Germany [3] . She herself also won several prestigious film awards for this role [1] .
In the same year, she appeared in the Belgian film . The creators of The Witch of War promised to pay her education and an apartment in Kinshasa until Rachel reached 18 years of age [2] . In 2014, she published an autobiography of Survivre pour voir ce jour [4] .
