History

The Malta Volleyball Association has been a member of the FIVB and the EKB since 1984 .

In May 1993, the regular Games of the Small States of Europe were held in Malta and the women's national team of the hosts took part in the volleyball tournament of these complex competitions, but its debut performance on the official international arena ended at a preliminary stage. In addition, in 1997–2003 and in 2017, the Maltese volleyball players also participated in these Games and won medals once.

Since 1996, the women's national team of Malta took part in most European championships of small countries (except for tournaments 2004, 2007 and 2017), but only once became one of the winners - in 2000 . The final stage of the 2013 championship was held in Malta with the participation of five teams and also had the status of one of the group qualifying tournaments of the World Championship and in it the Malta volleyball players failed to perform, failing to win a single victory.
