Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck

The story dates back to 1877, when the 10-year-old shoe shine Scrooge McDuck earned his first dime . The saga covers all the main events in the life of a drake on the path to the formation of a financial empire, ending in 1947. The protagonist’s relations with his relatives, including with his nephew Donald Duck , as well as Scrooge’s confrontation with Flinthart Glomgold and the Gavs brothers, are closely woven into the plot. At the same time, the author and comic book artist, Don Rosa , uses a number of references to the works of Karl Barks , from under whose pen Scrooge McDuck first appeared. For his work in 1995, Don Rosa was awarded the Eisner Prize ^[1] .

Comics were first published between 1992 and 1994 in a number of European countries, and in 1994-1996 they were published in the American magazine Uncle Scrooge. In the 2000s, a number of expanded comic book reprints were published, as well as a two-volume edition by Hardcover ^2] .

In Russia, “The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck” was first published in 2018 by the AST publishing house in the series “Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck”. The first seven chapters and the additional issue of “On Ducks, Luck and Fortune” were included in the fourth volume of the series ^[3] . The eighth to twelfth editions were included in the fifth volume ^[4] .

6. The Terror of the Transvaal : Scrooge arrives in South Africa , where he first meets Flintheart Glomhold .

7. “ Dreamtime Duck of the Never-Never Drake” : Traveling through Australia , Scrooge learns about the time of dreams .

8. "King of the Klondike " ( English King of the Klondike ): during the gold rush Scrooge goes to Dawson , where he met with Zolotze Goldie .

9. "The Billionaire from the Dark Hills" ( Eng. The Billionaire of Dismal Downs ): Scrooge billionaire returns to Scotland, but is forced to change his former residence.

10. “ The Invader of Fort Ducksburg ” ( Eng. The Invader of Fort Duckburg ): Scrooge and his sisters move to the American city of Daxburg, where he meets the first Young Marmots, and again confronts the Gavs brothers gang.

11. “ The Empire-Builder from Calisota ”: Scrooge, traveling around the world in search of treasures, tries to hide from the zombie pursuing him Bombies. Returning to Daxburg, he first meets Donald's nephew, but on the same day breaks all contacts with his family. Scrooge is trying to find solace in what is now the richest drake in the world.

12. " The Richest Duck in the World " ( Eng. The Richest Duck in the World ): after a seventeen-year break with his family, Uncle Scrooge invites Donald and nephews Billy, Willie and Dilly for a Christmas dinner. A new generation of Gavs brothers is preparing to hinder the holiday.

3B. “ The Cowboy Captain of the Cutty Sark ”: Scrooge carries cattle aboard the clipper Catti Sark and survives the Krakatau eruption.

6B. The Vigilante of Pizen Bluff : Upon returning to the United States, Scrooge confronts a gang of Dalton brothers along with a number of Wild West heroes.

8B. The Prisoner of White Agony Creek : Scrooge abducts Goldie Goldie and forces her to work at the White Egony Bay mine.

8C. Hearts of the Yukon : Scrooge is falsely accused of a crime. He plans to withdraw his charges, but everything indicates that he was framed by Zolotze Goldie.

10B. “ The Sharpie of the Culebra Cut ”: Scrooge with two sisters takes up the search for gold in Panama , but the construction of the Panama Canal becomes a sudden barrier to them.

• During his adventures, Scrooge meets characters who existed in reality: Theodore Roosevelt , Jesse James , Phineas Barnum , Jack London , Buffalo Bill , Annie Oakley and others.
• In 2014, Finnish composer Tuomas Holopainen released the album The Life and Times of Scrooge , based on a comic book series ^[5] .
