Turgenev (train)

July 5, 1967 branded train No. 604 "Orel" made its first flight to the capital. The train was led by the honorary railwayman Evgeni Karnayev ^[1] .

In order to save time and avoid downtime, on May 26, 2006 the Turgenev train changed direction, number and departed from Moscow to Simferopol ^[2] . The day before, on May 25, 2006, four trains with 83 wagons passed certification. The Commission of Russian Railways and Ukrainian Zaliznytsia recognized them as meeting the requirements for passenger service on branded trains.

After the change of power in Ukraine in 2014 , the annexation of Crimea to the Russian Federation , the deterioration of Russian-Ukrainian relations and the subsequent termination of direct railway communication between Russia and the Crimea, by decision of the FPK OJSC, in accordance with “optimization and reduction of passenger traffic”, the Turgenev branded train November 1, 2014 from Moscow to Orel went for the last time ^[3] .

In 2014, the Oryol Regional Council of People’s Deputies addressed the president of Russian Railways with a proposal to restore the movement of the Turgenev branded train on the route Moscow - Orel - Moscow, but their request was not granted ^[4] .

On January 15, 2015 the train was renamed “ Moscow - Oryol - Kursk ” (all cars were repainted in the corporate colors of Russian Railways), runs on the route “Moscow - Oryol - Kursk” instead of the “Nightingale” train. Since October 1, 2018, he received the main numbering 141В / 142М, runs along the route and schedule of the canceled Seym train, and part of the cars run along the route 097М / 098М Orel-Kursk via Zmievka, Glazunovka, Maloarkhangelsk, Ponyri, Zolotukhino, Freedom.
