Vladislav Hercegovich ( Bosnian Vladislav Hercegović Kosača , Serb. Vladislav Hercegoviћ Kosacha ; 1426/1427 - 1489 ) - the last duke of Saint Sava from the Kosach dynasty ( 1466 - 1483 ).

Biography
The eldest son of Stefan Vuksic Kosach (1404-1466), the great governor of Huma, Duke of Huma and Duke of Saint Sava, from his first marriage with Elena Balsic .
The Kosachi dynasty, from which Vladislav Herzegovic came, owned land in modern Herzegovina .
In his youth (after 1453 ), Vladislav was in the service of the Ottoman Empire, the Republic of Venice and the Kingdom of Hungary. King of Hungary Matthias Hunyadi granted him the Croatian fortresses of Velika Kalinik and Mali Kalini near the town of Krizhevtsy .
In 1466, after the death of his father, Stefan Vuksic, Vladislav Herzegovic inherited his possessions and the title of Duke of Saint Sava. In 1469, he was forced to recognize vassal dependence on the Ottoman Empire.
As a vassal of the Ottoman sultan Mehmed Fatih, Vladislav Kosach took part in the capture of the city Pochitel on the river. Neretva in 1472 and in battles against the Vlatkovichi clan in this area.
Later, Vladislav Hercegovich refused to pay tribute to Porte and to recognize himself as a vassal of the Ottoman sultan. In 1480, the Ottoman army invaded Herzegovina, Vladislav was defeated by the Ottomans and fled to Herceg Novi . In 1483, the Ottoman Turks (under the command of Brother Vladislav Stefan ) captured Herceg Novi, and Vladislav retreated to the island of Rab , which belonged to the Venetians. In 1489, Vladislav Hercegovich died on the island of Rab . His sons Petar Balsha and Vladislav bore the title "Duke of Saint Sava" only nominally.
Family and Children
From 1453/1454, Vladislav Gertsegovich was married to Anna Kantakuzin, one of the five daughters of the Byzantine aristocrat and adventurer George Paleolog Kantakuzin . A letter dated April 5, 1455 is preserved, in which the King of Naples and Aragonese Alfonso V the Magnanimous congratulates the Duke Stefan Vuksic Kosach on the marriage of his two sons: one took the wife of the despot of Serbia (Anna Kantakuzina) as his wife, and the other - the sister of Count Tsilli. After some time, Vladislav Gertsegovich sent his wife Anna with his son Balsha and niece Mara to reside in the Dubrovnik Republic .
His younger brother, Stefan Hercegovich Kosach ( 1455 - 1517 ), who converted to Islam in 1470 , became known as Hersekli Ahmed Pasha , five times became the great vizier of the Ottoman Empire.
