Yuri Ivanovich Metelkin (born June 27, 1953 , Gomel , BSSR , USSR ) is a Soviet and Russian musician, poet, vocalist and one of the founders of the popular Soviet musical group VIA Blue Bird . The author of several non-profit Internet projects - “Old Radio”, “ Audiopedia ”, “Witness” and others.

Biography
Born on June 27, 1953 in the city of Gomel in the Belorussian SSR . Father - Ivan Ivanovich Metelkin ( 1922 - 1992 ) - a participant in the Great Patriotic War , a driver . Mother - Valentina Mikhailovna Abrosimova (born 1925 ) - accountant . After graduating from high school in 1971 - 1974 he studied at the department of cultural and educational work of the Gomel Music and Pedagogical School (now - Gomel State Pedagogical College named after L. S. Vygotsky), in 1983 - 1987 - at the same name faculty of the Moscow State Institute of Culture them. V.I. Lenin . During his studies at the school, he began performing in the vocal and instrumental ensemble “We, You and Guitars”, founded in 1972 at the club of the Gomel Plywood-Match Factory. It also included Sergey Drozdov , Vyacheslav Yatsino , Valery Pavlov , Boris Belotserkovsky , Yakov Tsyporkin and Vladimir Blum . Subsequently, the ensemble was called “Voices of Polesye”, became the laureate of the Belarusian republican competitions and the All-Union contest “Young Voices”.
In January 1975, the participants of the Voices of Polesie moved to Gorky and worked in the Sovremennik collective of the Gorky Philharmonic; in 1976, the team moved to Kuibyshev and took a new name - VIA " Blue Bird ". On February 22, 1976, the first poster concert of the band took place in Tolyatti .
In July 1977, for creative reasons, Yu. Metelkin left VIA Blue Bird and moved to Moscow. Later, until the beginning of perestroika, he worked in various musical groups of the Moscow Association of Musical Ensembles (MOMA), of which 12 years as a vocalist, as part of an ensemble led by jazz pianist Gabil Zeynalov.
In the 90s he was forced to leave the profession and was engaged in various forms of commercial activity. In 2007, he began conducting a non-profit cultural Internet project “Old Radio” and “ Audiopedia ” related to the search, restoration, preservation and provision of universal and free access to the radio heritage of the “Golden Age of Radio Theater”. Yu. Metyolkin is an ideologue for reducing the duration of copyright and the speedy transfer of the cultural heritage of the peoples of the USSR to the public domain . Along with the salvation of radio archives, on the example of the operation to save the archive of the Irkutsk radio “Vostok”, it is conducting joint projects on digitizing, preserving and exhibiting sound heritage with creative organizations - the WTO , CDA , Central House of Arts , RosArchive , MosArchive , Marina Tsvetaeva’s House Museum , various private archives and collections. Exposure is conducted not only within the framework of Internet broadcasting, but also at the AudioPedia site, which contains thematic sections - Witness, Theatrology, Reporting, Lecture Hall, Phonohrestomatiya.
In April 2013, Yu. Metyolkin donated 30 thousand reels of magnetic film with stock records of the USSR to the State Radio and Television Fund.
