Weicheng ( Chinese р 渭城 , pinyin : Wèichéng , literally: “a city on the Weihe river”) is a district of urban subordination of the Xianyang urban district of Shaanxi Province ( China ).

History
In 350 BC e. the capital of the kingdom of Qin , called “Xianyang”, was transferred to these places from Liyana; and then Xianyang County (咸阳 县) was created. After the founding of Liu Ban in 206 BC. e. Han Empire Xianyang County was renamed Xincheng (新 城县). In 200 BC e. the state’s capital was moved to Chang'an , and these places were annexed to Chang'an County .
In 114 BC e. a separate county was again created in these places, called Weicheng (渭 城县). Then, the graves of the emperors of the Han empire began to be placed in these places, and the territories around the graves were allocated to separate counties: Changlin (长 陵县), Anlin (安 陵县), Yanlin (阳 陵县). In 30, Weicheng County was again annexed to Chang'an County.
In the era of the Three Kingdoms, these places were part of the Wei kingdom. Changlin and Anling counties were annexed to Chang'an county, and Yanling counties were attached to Gaolin county (高陵县).
Under the Late Zhao Empire, in 331, Shian County (石 安县) was formed on the site of the former Weicheng County. Under the Early Qin Empire, in 352 it was disbanded, but under the Northern Wei Empire, it was re-created.
Under the Sui Empire, in 583, Shian County was annexed to Jingyang County. In 589, Jingyang County was renamed Xianyang, but in 607 it was again called Jingyang. Under the Tang Empire in 619, a new county was formed from the southern part of Jingyang County and the eastern part of Shiping County, again called Xianyang.
In 1950, the Xianyang Special District (咸阳 专区) was established, and Xianyang County became part of it. In 1952, the urbanized part of Xianyang County was allocated to Xianyang City. In 1953, the Xianyang Special District was disbanded, and the city of Xianyang and Xianyang County became directly subordinate to the authorities of Shaanxi Province. In 1958, Xianyang County was annexed to Xianyang City.
In 1961, the Xianyang Special District was recreated. In 1966, the city of Xianyang was transferred from the Xianyang Special Region to subordinate to the Xian authorities. In 1969, the Xianyang Special District was renamed the Xianyang (咸阳 地区) District. In 1971, Xianyang City was returned to Xianyang County.
In September 1983, by the decree of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, the Xianyang District and the city of Xianyang were disbanded, and the Xianyang City District was formed; the former city of Xianyang has become the Qindu district of Xianyang Urban District. In 1987, the eastern part of Qindu was allocated to a separate Weicheng district.
