History

The settlement has been known from written sources since 1639 as the village of Moletichi , there was a church, the population - 13 yards and 28 inhabitants.

During the Northern War (1700-1721), at the end of August 1708, near the village on the Chernaya Natopa River, the Russian army under the command of Mikhail Golitsin defeated the vanguard of the Swedish army. In the West, this event is known as the Battle of Molyatichi . This was the first victory of the Russian troops over the Swedes, and a month later the Swedes were defeated near Lesnaya [1] .

After the first division of the Commonwealth, the center became part of the Russian Empire , became the center of the volost of the Cherikovsky district of the Mogilev province . The settlement belonged to the bishop, then to Metropolitan Stanislav Bogush-Sestrentsevich , then to the widow of Major General Bogushevsky. Bogush-Sestrentsevich, at his own expense, built the church of St. Stanislav in the village in the form of a small copy of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome , later in 1835 the church was transferred to the Orthodox Church. In a statistical description of the province of 1784, the settlement is already mentioned as a place. In the Patriotic War of 1812, the place was partially burned. In 1879, a school (public school) was opened, in which in 1889 55 boys and 2 girls studied. Some of the villagers were engaged in tailoring. Every year on June 29 on the day of Saints Peter and Paul , a fair was held in the town [1] .
