In the World Cup, Tritcher made his debut on March 21, 1987 , in March 1991 he won his first career victory at the World Cup in slalom. In total, he has 3 victories at the stages of the World Cup, all in slalom. The best achievement in the overall World Cup standings is for Tritscher 14th in the 1994/95 season.
At the 1992 Olympic Games in Albertville, he won a bronze medal in slalom, losing only 0.18 seconds to the famous Italian Alberto Tombe in the fight for silver.
