Biography

In 1960 he graduated from the Saratov Medical Institute with a degree in medical care, in 1962 - clinical residency in TB in the 3rd Main Directorate of the Ministry of Health of the USSR. In 1962-1964 worked as a TB doctor, head of the TB department of the medical unit No. 52 of the USSR Ministry of Health ( Kirovo-Chepetsk ).

Since 1967 - at the Central Research Institute of Tuberculosis of the Ministry of Health of the USSR / RAMS : graduate student (1964-1967), junior, then senior researcher (1967-1980); laboratory head, head of the laboratory experimental department (1980-1991); Deputy Director for Research, Acting Director (1991-1999); Director, at the same time head of the department of pathology, electron microscopy and biochemistry (since 1999).

President of the Russian Society of TB Specialists, chief editor of the journal “Tuberculosis and Pulmonary Diseases”; Commissioner of the International Union for the Control of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases of the European Respiratory Society.

Died November 22, 2014 in Moscow ; buried at the Kotlyakovsky cemetery (plot 59a) [2] .

Scientific activity

The main areas of scientific research are the study of tuberculous inflammation, the pathogenesis of progressive forms of tuberculosis, the surfactant lung system in normal and pathological conditions.

In 1968 he defended his Ph.D. ("Immunological reactions of the lungs in experimental tuberculosis according to histochemistry and electron microscopy"), in 1975 - his doctoral dissertation ("Subcellular lung morphology in experimental tuberculosis").

The author of more than 400 scientific papers, including 7 monographs, as well as textbooks, teaching aids and manuals, patents.
