Biography
Simeon (Shimon) Buchbinder was born on January 6, 1853 in the city of Radin, Radinsky county of Lublin province (now Radzyn Podlaski , Lublin Voivodeship , Poland ).
The first painting lessons were given to him by his older brother Joseph ( Polish. Józef Buchbinder ). Then he learned to draw portraits by S. Heyman and landscapes by A. Malinovsky.
In 1869-1871 he studied at the Warsaw drawing school.
Since 1871, he worked as a decorator at the Vienna Court Opera . In 1873-1878 he studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts .
In 1879-1882 he studied in Krakow at the School of Fine Arts in the studio of Jan Matejko . In 1883 he became a scholarship holder and moved to Munich .
In 1897 he moved permanently to Berlin , where he lived until his death (circa 1908 ) [2] . Some sources indicate the date of death in 1924.
Creativity
Simeon (Shimon) Buchbinder is the author of small-format paintings that depict portraits and historical scenes [3] .
Exhibitions
The artist exhibited relatively little:
- In the years 1874-1883. several times showed individual works at the exhibitions of the Society of Fine Arts Lovers (TPSP) in Krakow and the in Warsaw.
- In the years 1884-1888. in Berlin.
