Ekaterina Sergeevna Avvakumova (born , ) is a Russian and South Korean biathlete . World champion in summer biathlon (2015), winner of the winter Universiade. Master of Sports of Russia of international class (2015).

Career
She began to engage in polyathlon in the Youth Sports School of Veliky Ustyug with Pavel Ordin in 2006. Since 2009, she began to engage in biathlon in St. Petersburg with Nikiforov Vyacheslav Vladimirovich and Yu. V. Vasiliev . Since 2012, she trained with V.V. Nikiforov in Sochi .
Bronze medalist of the junior championship of Russia 2011, winner and medalist of the stages of the Cup of Russia . Two-time winner of the Russian Summer Biathlon Championship 2014. Silver medalist of the Russian Championship 2016 (masstart).
At the Winter Universiade 2015, she won silver in the individual 15 km race. In the same year she became the world champion in summer biathlon in the mixed relay.
She graduated from the National State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Health named after P.F. Lesgaft .
In 2017, she joined the South Korean national team. She made her new team debut at international competitions on January 7, 2017 at the IBU Cup stage in Val Martello, taking 37th place in the sprint.
On February 15, 2017, at the World Championships in Austria, she took 5th place in the individual race, not making a single miss, and following the results of this race, she became the first Korean woman to attend the flower ceremony in history.
After the 2017/18 Olympic season, she returned to Russia [1] .
