Biography

Born on February 26 ( March 10 ), 1883 [1] [2] (according to other sources, February 25 ( March 9 ), 1883 [3] ) in St. Petersburg in the family of the architect V. A. Dombrovsky (1854–1917) . In 1905-1914 he studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Imperial Academy of Arts . In 1907–1912 he worked as an assistant to architects in Odessa , Kiev , and Warsaw . In 1913–1917, V. Shchuko , an assistant to the academician of architecture, participated under his leadership in developing the design of the South-Western Railway Station and in building the House of Provincial Zemstvo in Kiev and a number of other structures [1] [2] .

Since 1918 - in Moscow. From November 1918, he worked as a master in the architectural and artistic workshop of the Moscow Council under the direction of I. V. Zholtovsky and A. V. Shchusev [4] . In 1919, he participated in the work of Zhivskulpparkh at the Department of Fine Arts of the People's Commissariat of Education - the first innovative organization of Soviet architects [5] . In 1919–1924, he worked in the development workshop of the city of the Office for the Rehabilitation of Yaroslavl [6] . 1924–1926 - in Pavlovsk as guardian and architect of the Pavlovsk Palace , he was engaged in the restoration of buildings and Pavlovsk Park [1] [2] .

Since 1927 - in Sverdlovsk . He worked in the rationalization bureau of Uralpromstroy (1928–1929), as a senior architect for Uralgiprogor’s planning (1930–1934), as head of the architectural and planning workshop No. 2 of Sverdlovoblproekt (1934–1941), as head of the architectural planning workshop and as the chief architect of the Gorproject (1944–1941). ). Under the leadership of Dombrovsky in 1931, work was done on drawing up a plan for the “Bolshoy Sverdlovsk” (interrupted in 1933, resumed in 1936) [1] [2] [7] .

In addition to design and construction activities, he was engaged in teaching: at the Higher Women's Architectural Courses of E. F. Bagaeva (1915-1918), VHUTEIN (1924-1927), Sverdlovsk Architectural College (1934-1940).

He died in 1953. He was buried at the Lutheran-Catholic cemetery (not preserved) [8] .
