Biography
Alexander Kovalenko began his professional football career as part of Konstantinovsky Metallurg , where he confidently spent half a season, after which he joined the ranks of Bazhanovets from Makeevka (the club later changed its name to Shakhtar). In the Makeevka club, Kovalenko quickly became one of the leading players on which the team’s game was held.
It is not surprising that at the beginning of the 1996/97 season, a young midfielder was invited to Dnipropetrovsk . In the same season, Kovalenko achieved the greatest success with the Dnipro, becoming the 1996/97 Ukraine Cup finalist (the football player himself spent only 2 minutes in the final match against Shakhtar Donetsk). Confident game Kovalenka attracted the attention of the coaching staff of the youth team , for which the midfielder spent 4 matches in 1997. In the 1997/98 season, Alexander was one of the key players of Dnipro, having played 25 matches on the field and having hit three rivals three times.
Kovalenko began the next season as part of the Donetsk Shakhtar , however, things were not going on in his new team. The midfielder was content mainly with appearances in the Pitmen’s second team , and in the major league he had only four matches. The situation changed the next year, after Alexander Kovalenko decided to move to Donetsk Metallurg . Together with the game practice, new achievements came - in the 2001/02 season, metallurgists received the bronze of the national championship. However, in the next season, Kovalenko almost did not appear on the field, so everything went to the point that he would change the team.
The football player spent the first half of the 2003/04 season in his new club, which was Kryvyi Rih Krivbass , confidently, but after the winter break he stopped falling into the squad and in June 2004 put on his boots. Since 2006, Alexander Kovalenko began refereeing, serving matches at first regional and then all-Ukrainian amateur competitions . In 2009, as an assistant referee of the second category, he received the right to judge matches of teams of the second league .
December 21, 2010 Kovalenko committed suicide by jumping out of the window of his own apartment in Dnepropetrovsk [1] .
