Short Biography

Born on December 17, 1963 [2] in the village of Brailovo, Ukrainian SSR, in the family of turner Valentin Feliksovich Novitsky and Olga Moiseevna Bortsova. Grandfather, Moses Nikolayevich Bortsov, a craftsman, died in the Great Patriotic War . Grandmother, Sytnik (Bortsova) Maria Petrovna, a peasant woman, during the war, a member of the partisan movement. In 1967 he moved with his family to Kazakhstan to develop virgin lands. He graduated from school there. From 1979 to 1983 He studied at the Atbasar College of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture in the profession "master of rural civil engineering" (red diploma). At the technical school he was actively involved in amateur performances, participated in staging performances at the Atbasar Drama Theater [6] [7] .

From 1983 to 1985 served in the ranks of the Soviet Armed Forces , was the commander of the intelligence department [6] . After demobilization in 1985, he moved to live in Leningrad. For a year he studied at the Perekrestok Theater Studio of Veniamin Filshtinsky, and in mid-1986 he entered the Leningrad State Institute of Theater of Music and Cinematography ( LGITMiK ), where he studied on the same stream with the future vocalist AuktsYona and Ata-Baty, and subsequently popular actor Eugene Dyatlov . In 1990, he graduated from LGITMiK with a degree in theater and film actor [1] . During his studies, Mikhail continued to work in the "Crossroads" theater of Veniamin Filshtinsky , as well as in the "Tales on the Neva" theater and the "Theater of Miniatures", with which he traveled half the country. In 1992, Novitsky left the theatrical work, as this interfered with his musical plans [7] .

Even in Kazakhstan, Novitsky began to compose songs and sing them with a guitar, and in the fall of 1989, already in St. Petersburg, he opened an unofficial club, called "Chukotka", which was located in the basement on 15 Blokhin Street, through the wall from the now legendary boiler room " Kamchatka ". It was there in the autumn of 1989 that his first group “Bus” was born, which was regularly recorded using the “Nota” tape recorder - these recordings made up the band’s first two albums: “Crossroads” (1990) and “03-16” (1991 ) Evolving from hard rock to reggae and ballads, during the first half of the 90s the group accumulated songs for two more albums: “Repey-31” and “Chukotka” (both in 1994) [7] . In 1993, Mikhail begins to organize a new group, “SP Babai” [8] . The first major success of SP Babai was the participation in the III Street Musicians Festival “Singing Nevsky”, which took place on Duma Square in early September 1996 . From the very first bars, the group attracted both the public and the jury, which without any controversy awarded it first place. In 2001 and 2005, together with the group “SP Babai”, Mikhail was a participant in the cult festival “ Invasion ”. Since 1996, the group has recorded 11 albums .

Since 1994 , Mikhail has been painting, he has painted more than 500 oil paintings. In 2008 , his illustrations were published by Alexander Startsev 's book “A Journey to Black Uhura” [6] .

Mikhail Novitsky also worked as a presenter on the radio and participated in many television programs. Currently lives and works in St. Petersburg , the director and actor of the song theater "Mikhail Novitsky Theater" [9] .

Community Activities

Since 1996, the head and member of the theater and music group "SP Babai".

Since 2003, the organizer and leader of the environmental movement "Green Wave" [10] . The movement saved from the development of 9 squares of St. Petersburg [6]

The movement took an active part in stopping Gazprom ’s ambitious Okhta Center project. Many worthy citizens took part in the landings. Traffic participants planted more than 800 registered trees in St. Petersburg. [11] [12]

Since 2000, the organizer of the international festival of author’s song to them. V. S. Vysotsky “Lampushka” [13] in the Priozersky district of the Leningrad Region on the shores of the forest lake of the same name near the village of Razdolie . The famous Forest concert of Vladimir Vysotsky was held in this place in 1972 . The scale of the festival is more than 3,000 people. [14] . Mikhail Novitsky is a regular participant in the protest movement, from the mid-zero years he constantly spoke at rallies of the democratic opposition in St. Petersburg, where he performed critical songs of his own composition dedicated to the Russian authorities. His song “Putin, skiing, Magadan” has become one of the unofficial anthems of the opposition [15] . January 15, 2015 during a rally in support of Alexei and Oleg Navalny, held on the Field of Mars , Novitsky sang the satirical song “ Putin , halloween!”. After that, the musician was subjected to severe censorship: only in January 2015, two events with his participation were canceled. [16] [17]
