According to the US Census Bureau , the total area of the county is 8,821.549 km 2 , of which 8,785.289 km 2 is land and 36.260 km 2 or 0.400% are water bodies.
Population
According to the 2000 census [1] , there are 8,238 inhabitants living in the district as part of 2,456 households and 1,981 families . The population density is 1.00 people per km 2 . There are 2,810 residential buildings on the territory of the district, with a building density of less than 1.00 buildings per km 2 . The racial composition of the population: whites - 96.56%, African Americans - 0.15%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 1.02%, Asians - 0.34%, Hawaiians - 0.05%, representatives of other races - 0.86 %, representatives of two or more races - 1.02%. Hispanic people accounted for 2.63% of the population, regardless of race .
In the structure of 2,456.00% of the total number of households , children under the age of 18 live, 18.00% of households are married couples living together, 69.10% of households are single women without a spouse, 7.90% households are not related to families , 17.50% of households consist of one person, 9.10% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 3.31 people, and the average family size is 3.79 people.
