Al Hoffman ( September 25, 1902 , Village of Oshmyany County, Vilnius Province - July 21, 1960 , New York ) - American composer and songwriter. Co-author of hits written during the 1930-1950s, which were performed by such famous artists as Sinatra , Armstrong and others.

Biography

Al Hoffman was born in the village of Derevna, Oshmyany district, Vilnius province (now Derevennoye, Stolbtsovsky district, Minsk region ) in the family of Luis Hoffman and Rosa Charnaya . At the age of 6, he moved with his parents to Seattle . After graduation, Al founded his own group, in which he was a drummer, and in 1928 he moved to New York. Continuing to perform in nightclubs, he began to compose his own compositions. In 1934, Al moved to London to write songs for the movies, and after 3 years he returned to the United States. In July 1960, he died of prostate cancer . Buried in New Jersey .

Al Hoffman is the author of more than 1,500 songs. Also, his compositions were heard in more than 70 Hollywood films from 1929 to 1957. In 1984, his name was included in the Composers Hall of Fame .
