Kurkaev, Ilyas Magomedovich

Ilyas Magomedovich Kurkayev ( January 18, 1994 , Biysk ) is a Russian volleyball player blocking Novosibirsk Lokomotiv and the Russian national team , European champion (2017) , international class master of sports [1] .

Career

Ilyas Kurkaev - a pupil of the Bien Sports Club "Green Wedge", where he trained under the supervision of Elena Bochkareva. Since 2010, he lived in Barnaul and trained in the school for children in volleyball "Dawn of Altai" with coach Sergei Markov [2] . In January 2012, he was invited to the Novosibirsk Lokomotiv . In the season 2012/13, he played for the farm team of railway workers in the major league “A” and the Youth League.

In September 2013, Ilyas Kurkaev as part of the youth national team of Russia won the world championship and was included by the organizers in the symbolic team of the tournament.

In November 2013, he made his debut in the main team of Lokomotiv at the winning Cup for Siberia and the Far East [3] and began to be involved in matches in the Super League. At the end of the season, he replaced the injured Anton Astashenkov in the starting lineup of Lokomotiv.

In May 2015, Ilyas Kurkayev transferred on a rental basis to the Krasnoyarsk Yenisei [4] . In July of the same year, as part of the student national team of Russia, he won the Universiade in Gwangju and shortly after its completion was called by Vladimir Alekno to gather a national team in connection with the injury of its former captain Andrei Ashchev [5] . On September 8, Ilyas held a debut official match for the Russian national team in Hamamatsu as part of the World Cup , in which she defeated the Venezuelan team .

In 2016, he returned to the Novosibirsk Lokomotiv. In two consecutive seasons (2016/17 and 2017/18) he became the best in the Super League by the number of points on the block.

In September 2017, as part of the Russian national team, he won gold at the European Championships in Poland , and in July 2019 he became the winner of the League of Nations .

His father is a Chechen , Magomed Daudovich, and his mother is Russian [6] . Ilyas Kurkaev is a student at SibGUPS (faculty of World Economics and Law).
