Biography
Jenny Erpenbek is the daughter of physicist, philosopher and writer Jon Erpenbek and an Arabic translator Doris Kilias . Grandfather - Fritz Erpenbek , Hedda Zinner's grandmother.
Jenny Erpenbek graduated from high school in Berlin and received a matriculation certificate in 1985. She studied as a bookbinder for two years, then worked in several theaters as a requisitioner and cloakroom attendant.
In 1988-1990, Jenny studied theater art at the University of Berlin , then studied as a music director at the Hans Eisler Graduate School of Music . After graduating in 1994, she worked for some time as an assistant director at the Graz Opera House, and since 1997 she independently worked on productions in the same theater.
Since 1998 she worked in various theaters in Germany and Austria, including in Aachen , Nuremberg and the Berlin State Opera .
In the 1990s, Jenny Erpenbek turned to literary activity and wrote several prose and dramatic works. Erpenbek's works have been translated into many languages of the world.
Jenny Erpenbek has a son (born 2002).
