The name was assigned on August 5, 1948 in honor of the soldiers of the 84th battalion of the 220th Gatchina-Berlin Red Banner Tank Brigade . Not far from the street, the battalion went to the village of Putrolovo, Leningrad Region, to participate in the liberation operation (July 23, 1942).
In its course has two kinks. The western side is engaged in gardening "Izhora massif-II."
