Biography

Dates of birth and death are unknown. Since 1669, he conducted extensive medical activities in Amasya, Samsun , Diyarbakir , Constantinople , Aleppo , Van , Adana , Marash and other cities. He was engaged in ophthalmology , surgery , treatment of internal diseases . For medicinal purposes, he used medicinal solutions, tablets and medicinal fruit juices [2] . Much attention was paid to rational nutrition, urging “to eat food as a medicine, so as not to consume medicine as food ” [3] . In matters of surgery and the treatment of traumatic injuries, he paid attention not only to hygiene , but also to the material of surgical instruments and sutures: for example, when injured with a dagger, saber or arrow, he recommended the imposition of silk sutures with a steel needle [4] .

He wrote a medical work devoted mainly to anatomy , pathology and pharmacology , which came to us in two versions: the original and shortened. Of the early Armenian doctors, Stepanos and Amirdovlat Amasiatsi often quoted, the anatomical part of the work is based on the work “On the structure of man” by Abu Saeed [2] . In total contains 155 chapters.
