Khan Myungsuk ( cor. 한명숙 ? , 韓明淑 ? ; Born March 24, 1944 , Pyongyang ) - Korean politician, 37th Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea . She is the first female Prime Minister in Korean history [1] .

Biography
Khan Myungsuk was born on March 24, 1944 in Pyongyang . In 1950, during the Korean War, she fled with her family to South Korea . At Ihwa Women's University, she studied French and literature.
She was a deputy of the National Assembly of Korea from the United New Democratic Party in 2000-2008.
2001-2003 - Minister for Gender Equality.
2003-2004 - Minister of Environmental Protection.
April 20, 2006 led the government. She resigned as prime minister on March 7, 2007 and announced that she would run for president, but the party’s internal election was unsuccessful for her.
In 2008, she ran for parliament, but was not elected. Nevertheless, in January 2012 she was elected the leader of the main opposition United Democratic Party, from whom she won the April parliamentary elections and became a member of parliament. But the UCP failed to defeat the ruling Senuri party, and Khan Myonsuk resigned as party leader in April 2012.
