Career

In 1965 he began serving in the Royal Air Force [11] , in 1970 he was appointed commander of the 2nd Air Squadron. Since 1973 he held various command positions: since 1977 - adjutant to the commander of air operations [1] , then head of operations and planning. [12]

In 1980, he left the Air Force [11] and in March was appointed by King Fahd the governor of the province of Hail [13] , since November 1999 - the governor of the province of Madina [13] . During his governorship, he paid attention to the modernization of the provincial capital [12] and the development of healthcare and education in remote areas [14] .

On October 22, 2005, by decree of King Abdullah, he was appointed head of the General Intelligence Service [13] [15] [16] [17] . On February 1, 2013, King Abdullah appointed Prince Mukrin the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister of the kingdom [1] , on March 27, 2014 he was appointed Deputy Crown Prince - his half- brother Salman , which made him second in the line of succession [18] . With the death of King Abdullah on January 23, 2015, Mukrin became the Crown Prince [19] and 1st Deputy Prime Minister (according to tradition, the ruling monarch has been the prime minister of the kingdom since 1960).

On April 29, 2015, King Salman changed the succession order, relieved Mukrin of his post, and appointed the second vice-premier of Muhammad ibn Naif Al Saud , who became the new heir to the Saudi throne [20]
