Biography
Born in Novocherkassk on July 12, 1897 . He studied at the local real school, then - at the Don Agricultural Institute . In 1925-1927 he worked in Dagestan , in the autumn of 1927 he was sent to the Leningrad Institute of Zoology and Phytopathology, he graduated in 1930.
From 1934 to 1951, Peter Nikolaevich taught as a professor and headed the Department of Lower Plants of Central Asian State University . I went on expeditions to the deserts and mountains of Central Asia, in particular, to the Pamir and Tien Shan . For several years P.N. Golovin was dean of the Faculty of Biology of SAGU.
Peter Nikolayevich Golovin for the first time identified over 200 new species of mushrooms. He also studied the prospects for the use of mushrooms for combating harmful insects and fungal diseases of cotton , fruit and melons.
In 1951, Golovin became a senior researcher at the V. L. Komarov Botanical Institute , until 1962 he worked in Leningrad. Since 1951, he was a member of the All-Union Botanical Society , and headed the Department of General Phytopathology of the Institute of Zoology and Phytopathology.
Pyotr Nikolayevich Golovin died on August 18, 1968 .
