Union of Gurals ( Polish. Związek Górali ) is a public organization of Podhalyanskih Gurals .

History

The organization was founded on March 4, 1904 at the initiative of Wojciech Ksheptovsky, who was its first chairman. The organization accepted only gourals, a special role in it was played by gourals from Zakopane . The Gural Union was involved in culture, gural education and economic affairs. Members of the organization also collected ethnographic material related to the folk culture of Podgalya and the Polish Tatras.

The organization raised issues of national independence of the gural from Poland. Before World War II, the Gural Union founded an agricultural school, teacher training college and a dairy farm. Members of the organization initiated the construction of roads and patronized the goral people's houses.

The Union of Gurals convened four congresses in 1911, 1912, 1913 and 1919, which took place in Zakopane and New Targ . At the IV congress in the city of Nowy Targ, which took place in 1919, the Union of the Underground was founded, which was attended by residents of the Novo - Sonic , Liman, and Zywieck county .

On November 29, 1939, in the framework of the German campaign Goralenfolk , a meeting of the Union of Gurals was held in Zakopane , during which Vaclav Ksheptovsky proclaimed a memorandum "on the needs of the people of the Hural". At this meeting, the organization began to bear the German name “Goralenverein” and Vaclav Krzheptovsky took over the chairmanship of the new organization.

The Union of Hurals resumed its activities after the Second World War. In 1948, the organization suspended its activities due to the unfavorable political situation. Since 1955, the organization's activities have been restored. In the same year, the Gural Union was renamed the Tatran Gural Union, which is still in force.
