Biography
Born in Tashkent on March 10, 1913 in the family of employees. Since 1920, the family of Vitaly Petrovich lived in the city of Verny ( Alma-Ata ). He studied at the Moscow Institute of Nonferrous Metals and Gold , since 1933 - at the Sverdlovsk Mining Institute .
In 1934 he again moved to Alma-Ata due to his illness, he entered the Kazakh State University . Since 1939, V.P. Goloskokov worked as a junior researcher in the botanical sector of the Kazakh branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences. At the beginning of World War II, he served at the front, was seriously wounded.
Since 1942, after treatment, he continued botanical research at the branch of the Academy of Sciences, conducted expeditions. In 1947, Vitaly Petrovich defended his thesis under the guidance of Nikolai Vasilievich Pavlov .
V.P. Goloskokov participated in the compilation of Flora of Kazakhstan (1956–1966), he processed for him 28 families and a total of 688 plant species. He worked as the editor-in-chief of the Illustrated Plant Identifier of Kazakhstan. From 1957 to 1975 he headed the Flora Department of the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.
In 1984, Vitaly Petrovich published a monograph “Flora of the Dzungarian Alatau”.
