Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau , the county’s total area is 3,006,993 km 2 , of which 2,981.093 km 2 are land and 25.900 km 2 or 0.890% are water bodies.
Population
According to the 2000 census [1] , the district has 62,761 residents comprising 24,453 households and 17,312 families . The population density is 21.00 people per km 2 . There are 28,664 residential buildings in the district, with a building density of about 10.00 buildings per km 2 . Racial composition of the population: white - 97.94%, African - Americans - 0.40%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.31%, Asians - 0.45%, Hawaiians - 0.01%, representatives of other races - 0.19 %, representatives of two or more races - 0.69%. Hispanics accounted for 0.63% of the population, regardless of race .
Out of the total number of households , 31.80% are children under the age of 18, 57.40% of households are married couples living together, 8.90% of households are single women without a spouse, 29.20% of households households are not related to families , 24.70% of households consist of one person, 11.50% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 2.52 people and the average family size is 2.99 people.
The age structure of the district: 25.50% under the age of 18, 6.80% from 18 to 24, 27.20% from 25 to 44, 24.70% from 45 to 64 and 24.70% from 65 and older. The average age of a resident of the district is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 95.10 males . For every 100 females over 18 years of age, 92.10 males .
