History

After the kingdom of Qin in 312 BC. er Xicheng County was created, then the lands lying west of it were merged into Chenggu County (成 固 县). After the founding of the Han Empire, Anyang County (安阳 县) was created at the junction of Xicheng and Chenggu counties. In the era of the Three Kingdoms, these places were part of the Wei kingdom, and Huangjin County (黄金 县) was separated from Anyang County; the remaining Anyang County occupied the territories of the modern counties of Hanyin, Shitsuan and parts of Ziyang and Ningshan counties. Under the Western Jin Empire, in 280, Anyang County was renamed Ankang (安康 县). Under the Eastern Jin Empire, the western part of Ankang County was separated into Changle County (长乐 县) in 347; the remaining Ankan County occupied the territory of modern Hanin County, the southeastern part of modern Shiquan County and the northwestern part of modern Ziyang County.

In the era of the Southern and Northern Dynasties, these lands more than once passed from hand to hand, and their administrative structure changed greatly. Under the Liang Empire, Nindu County (宁 都 县) was allocated from Ankang County. When these lands were captured by North Wei, the districts of Zhicheng (直 城县) and Hanin were allocated from Ankang County. Then Nindu County was annexed to Ankang County, after which it was renamed Nindu. Under the Empire of Western Wei in 552, the Guangyang and Hanyin counties were annexed to Ningdu County, as a result of which it began to occupy the territories of the modern counties of Hinyin, Ziyang, and the southern part of the modern county of Shiquan. Then, Nindu County was renamed Ankang, and then to Hanin.

Under the Tang Empire, in 771, Shiquan County was annexed to the Haniye County due to sparsely populated areas, but was re-allocated in 805. After the Mongol conquest, Hanin County was disbanded, and its lands passed under the direct control of the authorities of the Jinzhou Region (金 州).

At the end of Mongol rule (first half of the fourteenth century), Hanin County was re-created; then he occupied the territory of the modern counties of Hanyin and Ziyang. Under the Ming Empire, he was annexed to Shiquan County in 1377, but was later recreated. In 1512, Ziyang County was allocated from Hanin County. Under the Qing Empire, in 1782, Han Yin County was annexed to Ankang County, subordinate to the Xinan County Government (兴安 府).

After the Xinhai Revolution in China, a reform of the administrative division of the level was carried out, and in 1913 the councils and provinces were abolished; On the basis of the Hanin Commissariat (汉阴 厅) of Ankang County, a separate Huaanin County was created.

In 1951, Ankang Special District (安康 专区) was established, and the county became part of it. In 1958, Hanin County was annexed to Shiquan County, but was recreated in 1961. In 1968, the Ankang Special District was renamed the Ankang District (安康 地区).

In 2000, Ankang County and Ankang City were disbanded and the Ankang City District was formed.
