Hui ( Chinese р 邑 п , pinyin : Hùyì ) is the district of urban subordination of the sub-provincial city of Xi'an , Shaanxi Province ( PRC ). The name of the district means “Hu district” and comes from the fact that representatives of the Hu clan lived in these places during the Xia Dynasty.

History
Huxian County (鄠 县) was created under the Western Han Empire.
In 1950, the Xianyang Special District (咸阳 专区) was formed, and the county became part of it. In 1952, the Xianyang Special District was disbanded, and the county came under the direct control of the authorities of Shaanxi Province. In 1958, the county was transferred to the jurisdiction of the authorities in Xi'an. The Xianyang Special District was recreated in 1961, and the county (returned to it. In 1964, as part of the nationwide campaign to simplify the characters, the name of the county was changed from 鄠 县 to 户县. In 1969, the Xianyang Special Region was renamed to Xianyang County (咸阳 地区) In 1983, Huxian County was transferred to the jurisdiction of Xi'an City.
In 2017, the county was transformed into an area of urban subordination, while the historical spelling of the hieroglyph “Hu” was restored.
