Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau , the total area of the county is 1,131.494 km 2 , of which 1 112.380 km 2 is land and 19.140 km 2 or 1.690% are water bodies.
Population
According to the 2000 census [1] , 29,820 inhabitants lived in the district, consisting of 10,894 households and 7,821 families . The population density is 27.00 people per km 2 . On the territory of the district there are 11,898 residential buildings, with a building density of about 11 buildings per km 2 . The racial composition of the population: whites - 97.52%, African Americans - 0.45%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.23%, Asians - 0.25%, Hawaiians - 0.02%, representatives of other races - 0.99 %, representatives of two or more races - 0.55%. Hispanic made up 2.08% of the population, regardless of race .
35.50% of the total number of households are children under the age of 18, 59.80% of households are married couples living together, 8.70% of households are single women , 28.20% of households are not related to families , 25.00% of households consist of one person, 12.30% of households consist of elderly (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 2.69 people, and the average family size is 3.24 people.
The age structure of the county: 29.00% younger than 18 years old, 8.60% from 18 to 24, 26.20% from 25 to 44, 21.70% from 45 to 64 and 21.70% from 65 and older. The average age of a resident of the district is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 97.30 males . For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.60 males .
