The champions of South Africa became the champions for the second time in their history, having beaten the Kenya team in the final with a score of 5: 0. The national team of Zimbabwe became the bronze medalist.
The championship was also a qualification tournament for participation in the 2002 World Cup . A ticket to the World Cup was received by one team - the winner of the tournament; accordingly, the South African national team received it.
