History
On May 24, 1958, Pope Pius XII issued the bull “Regnum Dei,” which established the Diocese of Maturin, separating it from the Diocese of Ciudad Bolivar (today - the Archdiocese of Ciudad Bolivar ). Initially, the diocese of Maturin was a suffragan one in relation to the archdiocese of Caracas , and on June 21 of the same year it became part of the church province of Ciudad Bolivar.
