Player Career

Club career

Li Jinyu earned his reputation early, even when he was a player in the youth squad of Shenzhen Ruby , who had an internship in Brazil . Later, he received a call to the youth team of China , with whom he played at the 1997 World Cup . There he attracted the attention of scouts of the French club Nancy , who rented it for one season [1] . Li could not gain a foothold in Nancy, so he returned to China , namely to Liaoning Huvin. There, he immediately showed his potential, which he could not show in Nancy, he became the main player in the team, which was close to winning the champion's title in 1999 [2] . In 2002, he won his first Golden Boot, but in all his time with Liaoning, he never won a single club trophy.

At the beginning of the 2004 season, Shandong Luneng was ready to pay 4.9 million yuan for Lee, which at that time made him the most expensive player in Chinese football history. He immediately became the main player in the team and at the end of the season helped her win the China Football Association Cup and the Chinese Super League Cup. The 2006 season was even more successful; Lee won the league title, CFA Cup and Golden Boot. In the 2007 season, he officially became the top scorer in league history, breaking the record of Hao Haidong , but he could not help Shandong to win the championship title [3] . The following season, Lee’s performance fell, he scored only six goals, nevertheless he won another league title [4] . By the 2010 season, Lee dropped out of the base, but he won the championship again, after which he decided to resign.

International Career

After participating in the 1997 World Youth Championship, Lee immediately moved to the main team and made his debut on February 1, 1997 in a friendly match against the United States (1: 1) [5] . As a result, he became the main player in the Chinese team and participated with her in several unsuccessful qualifying stages of the World Cup . His biggest achievement was silver in the 2004 Asian Cup ; he was a key player in the team that reached the finals and lost to Japan 3-1. When China played the 2007 Asian Cup qualifiers , coach Zhu Guanghu stopped calling him on the team to participate in the tournament. He believed that Lee's level of play is not high enough to include him in the national team [6] .

Coaching career

Li began his coaching career, becoming an assistant to the head coach of the Chinese women's team , and then to the Shenyang Zhongjie coach. On May 13, 2013, he was appointed to the post of head coach of the club, replacing Liu Zhitsai , who was dismissed from the club on the same day after a series of poor results [7] .

January 22, 2016 entered the coaching staff of the Shijiazhuang Ever Bright football club. [8] July 15, 2016 after the dismissal of the head coach Yasen Petrov became the acting head coach. [9]
