The National Library of the Czech Republic is the central library of the Czech Republic . It is subordinate to the Czech Ministry of Culture. The main library building is located in the historic Clementinum building in Prague , where about half of its collection is stored. The other half of the collection is stored in a building in the Gostivarge district [2] . The National Library is the largest library in the Czech Republic: in its collections there are about 7 million copies [3] , including 4200 incunabula [4] . The number of readers registered in the library is about 60,000. In addition to Czech texts, its collections also contain old books from Turkey, Iran and India [5] . In addition, books from Charles University in Prague are stored in the library [6] .

The library received international recognition in 2005, receiving the first UNESCO Jikji Prize for the Memory of the World program for its contribution to digitizing old texts [7] [8] . The project, which began work in 1992, over the first 13 years of work, completed the digitization of 1700 documents [5] .
