Udong [1] or Odong [2] ( Khmer. ឧ ដុ ង ្ ) is a city in Cambodia located in the northwestern part of Kampongspa province, about 35 km northwest of the capital Phnom Penh at the foot of Phnom Udong hill. From the beginning of the 17th century until 1865, Udong was the capital of Cambodia. Here are the tombs of the kings .

Etymology
The name of the city comes from the word "uttunga" ( Skt. उत्तुङ्ग ), which means "higher . "
UNESCO World Heritage
The city was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List on September 1, 1992. [3]
