Biography

He was born on September 22, 1919 in the village of Malo-Danilovka, Dergachevsky district, Kharkiv region, in a family of collective farmers.

In 1932, after graduating from elementary school, at the age of fourteen he began his career as a mechanic's apprentice, then as a mechanic at one of Kharkov factories.

In 1939 he was drafted into the army, served as a signalman in the Kharkov Military District .

A. A. Shevchenko - participant of the Great Patriotic War from the first to the last day of it. He went through the war as a senior telephonist, head of a telephone exchange in the North Caucasus , Primorsky, 2nd Belorussian fronts , in the Southern group of troops.

In March 1947, he moved to Sverdlovsk , where he began working as a brigadier of sinkers at the Volodarsky Mine No. 10. All his further labor activity was connected with this mine. Twenty-three years - from 1947 to 1970 (one of the most unique indicators of the domestic coal industry) - Shevchenko headed a team of penetrators at the mine number 10 named after Volodarsky.

In 1966, for the high performance in work during the seven-year period, A. A. Shevchenko was awarded the title Hero of Socialist. Labor . He was also awarded the Orders of Lenin , the Red Banner of Labor , the October Revolution , medals " For Military Merit ", " For the Defense of the Caucasus ", " For the capture of Koenigsberg ".

From 1970 to 1971, until his retirement, he worked as a foreman, a quality control engineer at the Volodarsky Mine No. 10.

From 1982 to 1986, while on a well-deserved rest, he worked as a mechanic in his native mine.

Died January 15, 1989.
