According to the United States Census Bureau , the total area of the county is 17,684.538 km 2 , of which 17 083.657 km 2 is land and 600.881 km 2 or 3.400% are water bodies.
Population
According to the 2000 census [1] , there are 12,405 inhabitants in the district, consisting of 3,840 households and 3,091 families . The population density is 1.00 people per km 2 . There are 4,522 residential buildings on the territory of the district, with a building density of less than 1.00 buildings per km 2 . The racial composition of the population: whites - 93.94%, African Americans - 0.10%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 1.31%, Asians - 0.48%, Hawaiians - 0.20%, representatives of other races - 2.76 %, representatives of two or more races - 1.21%. Hispanic people accounted for 7.18% of the population regardless of race .
In the composition of 3 840.00% of the total number of households live children under the age of 18 years, 18.00% of households are married couples living together, 70.60% of households are single women without a spouse, 7.10% households are not related to families , 18.30% of households consist of one person, 10.10% of households consist of elderly (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 3.19 people, and the average family size is 3.66 people.
