Biography
Peter van Anradt was born in Utrecht but studied painting at Deventer , where he fell under the influence of Gerard Terborch .
Arnold Haubraken mentions [1] that van Anradt was very friendly with the poet (1578–1659). The artist married the daughter of van der Vienna and moved to Amsterdam in 1672 .
But it was a difficult year for the whole of Holland , the invasion of Louis XIV . In 1675, the artist returned to Deventer, where, after another three years, he died. Peter van Anradt was buried in Deventer on April 13, 1678 .
Creativity
Many custom portraits by Peter van Anradt have survived; including multi-figured ones. Moreover, canvases similar to “Farewell of Captain Hendrick de Sandra,” where a large family with children and households are depicted on the threshold of a country house against a landscape in which the artist placed a whole detachment of armed horsemen, obviously belong to genre painting . Van Anradt is also the author of historical paintings and still lifes , distinguished by grace of style and artistic perfection.
