National Championship 3 or Nacional 3 ( French Championnat National 3 ) is the fifth football division in the French football league system . 168 amateur groups take part in its drawing. Teams are divided by region into twelve groups, each of which has its own game calendar. The championship lasts from August to May with a two-week break in December and January for vacation. According to the results of the season, the winners of their groups and the four best second teams receive the right to increase to Nacional 3 ; the three worst teams from each group drop into the respective regional divisions . In 1998-2017, the league was called the Amateur Championship of France 2 ( French Championnat de France Amateur 2 ).

History
The second amateur championship was created in conjunction with the first amateur championship in 1993-94. The basis was the former Division 4 ( Division 4 ), and the league was called "National Championship 3" ( National 3 ). Being an almost complete copy of the Black Sea Fleet, all the changes in this league followed the changes of the peculiar “big brother”.
The visit record was recorded in the match of Strasbourg against Schiltigheim - 10,883 spectators.
Format
In general terms, the format of the event is not very different from Nacional 2. Each year, 168 teams participate in the tournament, the number can also vary. Clubs are divided into 12 groups of 14 teams. Independent amateur clubs and reserve squads of professional, amateur and semi-professional teams of top divisions can take part in the tournament. The season lasts from August to May and runs in two circles. Each club holds 26 games per season.
The system of scoring is similar to the fourth division: for a victory you get 4 points, for a draw - 2, and one for defeat.
The champion among the eight group winners is determined by the maximum number of points scored in the match with the five following teams of the group (2-6). The winners of each of the groups receive the right to go to Nacional 2 . And also the four best second teams, with the maximum number of points scored in the confrontations with the five following teams of the group (3-7). Teams that take the last 3 places in each group are transferred to local regional leagues .
