Peremazovschina

Peremazovschina is one of the Old Believers , isolated in the Beglopopovshchina under the influence of disputes about the reception of priests passing from Orthodoxy .

Background

After the church reform, not a single bishop joined the Old Believers, which led to a constant decrease in the number of priests who adhered to the old rites. Some of the schismatics even formed a special trend - lack of faith , while the priests accepted priests passing from the Nikonian church .

However, the procedure for receiving runaway priests was different for different Old Believer communities: in some, for example, in the Polish Branch, the priest was immersed in the baptismal font in full vestment (so that “grace would not fly to heaven”), in others, and there were most: Irgiz monasteries The Kerzhen communities were accepted by the second rank — through anointing , the third ones, like the Starodub communities, were limited to the third rank — the renunciation of heresies .

In 1777, the Old Believer community of the Moscow Rogozhsky cemetery , holding a second opinion, conceived on their own to weld a world in which there was a lack. This worldview caused a serious conflict in the Old Believer world on a topic that had not previously caused open quarrels. Many communities did not want to agree to unify the rite and recognize the primacy of the Moscow community.

Peremazan Cathedral

To justify their action, as well as to finally resolve the issue of ritual reception, the Rogozh Old Believers assembled a cathedral, which later became known as “Peremazan”.

The main spiritual center of the Old Believers was Starodubye , whose settlements protested the arbitrariness of the Rogozh community, which undertook such a serious act without the approval of the others. However, their opponents, supporters of anointing, were the majority.

The cathedral was held from November 1779 to January 1780, during which 10 meetings were held, from 100 to 300 people attended. It ended in a split among the Old Believers: the Old-Dubu deputies, stubbornly adhering to the deacon’s consent , finally broke off relations with others. In turn, the Rogozh, Irgiz and Kerzhen deputies decided not to eat, drink or pray with the Starodubians. The issue of the anointing of the coming priests was resolved positively and approved by the Council Decree, although the world brewed in 1777 was decided to be destroyed.

Thus, a special agreement was formed, which was called "rematch". It was joined by the most important centers of beglopopovschina - Rogozh cemetery , Irgiz monasteries and Kerzhenskie skete , so that among all types of beglopopovschina remasturbation was numerically superior, taking at the same time the most extreme and irreconcilable position. If the milder deacons gradually entered into an agreement with the synodal church, forming such a movement as single-faith , then the followers of the Peremazovism strictly adhered to the principle of the heretical Orthodox Church.

Further Development

The Council Decree did not resolve all issues; the debate continued years later. The well-known religious leader, the abbot of one of the Irgiz monasteries, Sergius (Yurshev) wrote a “Searching Reasoning”, proving that the smearing of runaway priests is necessary, because otherwise they will not be cleared of heretical filth. The influence of this essay was enormous, as well as his other work, The Discourse with Doubters of the Holy Church and the Orthodox Priesthood, which secured a monopoly on Irgiz to “correct” runaway priests.

And even the liquidation by the state of the Old Believer Irgiz monasteries, and their compulsory conversion to single-faith, did not put an end to the re-mazovism. From it came the sense of the Austrian priesthood .
