Darlene Conley ( born July 18, 1934 - January 14, 2007) is an American television actress with a career spanning daytime soap operas and prime time TV shows.

Conley was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and began her career on stage as a child [3] . In 1963, she made her debut with a small role in the thriller “ Birds, ” after which she continued to play minor roles in the films “ Valley of the Dolls ” (1967), “ Faces ” (1968) and “The Lady Sings the Blues ” (1972). Her more prominent roles were in episodes of the series Smoke from the Barrel , The Mary Tyler Moore Show , Jeffersons , The Little House on the Prairie , and Kagney and Lacy [3] .
In the 1980s, Conley began performing in daytime soap operas. A minor role in " Young and the Bold " led her to the regular " Naughty and Beautiful " in her sister's soap. In the show, she played the grotesque role of Sally Spectra, until her death from stomach cancer [3] [4] . The role brought her two nominations for the Daytime Emmy Awards and six for the Soap Opera Digest [5] .
