Lins' songs gained worldwide popularity due to the composer's melodic ingenuity, as well as the combination of national specifics (mainly Latin American genre rhythmics, especially bosses ) and the “conventional” international style (above all, jazz harmony and instrumentation). They were repeatedly performed by famous pop and jazz singers (often in English translations) and instrumentalists, among them Alice Regina , Sarah Vaughan , Ella Fitzgerald , Patty Austin , Barbara Streisand , Quincy Jones , George Benson , Manhattan Transfer , Sting , Lee Ritenour , Toots Tielemans, Take Six , Dave Gruzin , Grover Washington , Vanessa Williams , Chuck Khan , Diana Reeves and many others.

Among the most famous songs of Lins are “Love Dance” (1989, original in English), “She Walks This Earth” ( port. Soberana rosa ), “Madalena” (1970), “Starting over” ( port. Começar de novo ) , "Velas içadas", "Somos todos iquais nesta noite", "Dinorah", "Setembro (Amada)", "Dindi".

Lins toured primarily in Latin America and the USA (including a jubilee concert at Carnegie Hall in 2000). He performed at the jazz festival in the Spanish city of Vitoria-Gasteiz (1994).
