Biography

Vladimir Konoval was born on June 30, 1940 in the village of Markovtsy (now the Bobrovitsky district of the Chernihiv region of Ukraine ). In 1958, he graduated from the Kiev Art and Crafts School No. 16, after which he worked at the Kyivmiskbud trust. He participated in the restoration of Tashkent after the devastating earthquake of 1968 [1] .

Since March 1975, Konoval, as a foreman of carpenters-concrete workers of the construction and assembly department, Ukrstroy went to the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated October 25, 1984, for "outstanding production successes achieved during the construction of the Baikal-Amur railway, ensuring early installation along its entire length and showing labor heroism", he was awarded the high title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the Hammer and Sickle Medal [1] .

Returning to Ukraine, Konoval continued to work in the construction industry. In 1995 he retired, and in 1997 he left for the city of Stary Oskol, Belgorod Region . He died on February 23, 2014 [1] .

Honored Builder of the Ukrainian SSR . He was also awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples and the "Badge of Honor" , along with a number of medals [1] .
